James 1:9-11
But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; and the rich man is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away. For the sun rises with a scorching wind and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so too the rich man in the midst of his pursuits will fade away.
If there is one thing living in Florida will teach you it's that the sun is hot. I mean brutally hot. A couple of months ago my five year old daughter asked me to plant a flower garden in our back yard. The same back yard that is in Central Florida (a tropical zone), and faces west (the same west the sun tends to travel towards everyday) and has zero shade. So naturally I said yes.
It was fun picking out the big gerber daises and building the bed. The flowers were beautiful and vibrant... that first day. Then came the sun and dried up all the rain. But not just the rain, the flowers as well, and just like that, all that we had worked for, all of that beauty, was gone.
Life is like that, beautiful one moment, gone the next. So if you have a little or if you have alot, you still only have one life. Let's live it well.
